The Greater Wawarsing Local Development Corporation is a small entity that has limited funds available to lend to existing or new businesses within the Town of Wawarsing upon approval in a normal loan application process. The GWLDC also will assist in grant and other applications for funding from county, state and federal programs as appropriate. The GWLDC has successfully applied for and obtained funding for local business loans that have helped both new and existing businesses start or expand. Our team in connection with the County of Ulster office of Economic Development provide assistance and advice to new and existing businesses looking to start or expand. This can include help with detailed business planning and projections to proper financial planning/budgeting for small businesses. The GWLDC has no employees or paid board members or services except the annual audit by and outside independent CPA firm. The GWLDC is an equal opportunity lender.

Application Process:Contact the GWLDC office by e-mail, phone, or in person to review your project plans, receive an application package and to discuss the process. The GWLDC requires many of the same documents and assurances as any private lender. Once the GWLDC has accepted a complete application and fee(if applicable), the review and decision process by the GWLDC Board takes approximately 4 – 8 weeks under normal circumstances. Additional information may be requested and/or a Zoom or personal meeting with the board to discuss the application. We can provide information and referrals for details that commercial and industrial firms require. Site selection, relocation, assessment and tax information, access to State and Federal programs, as well as local and regional issues, are available upon request.
GWLDC Board and Meetings The board consists of five members appointed by the Town of Wawarsing Board and Supervisor. Meetings are held as often as required to review applications and GWLDC operational matters. However during this time of Covid-19, meetings may be limited and often by ZOOM conference and phone/email communication.
